Junior Conferencing T3 2019

Junior Conferencing Thursday 29 August 2019 and Term 3 Attitude to Learning Reports

The College’s preferred method of giving feedback to parents about student progress is face to face and to this end Junior Conferencing will occur on Thursday 29 August. Classes will not run on this day but we expect all junior students to attend Conferencing. Students are not required to wear school uniform. Senior students will have a work day to raise funds for our new Sports Complex which is well underway.

Conferencing is a formal opportunity for both you and your student to receive detailed feedback and feed forward on their academic progress and the next steps to improve learning outcomes.  Conferencing works best when all three parties, the student, parents/caregivers and teachers are present. If due to unforeseen or exceptional circumstances you are unable to attend conferencing we ask that another significant adult attends with the student as it is critical that all students have the opportunity to be part of this formal reporting event.

You are encouraged to meet with the following teachers of your student/s:

Year 9:  English, Science, Mathematics, Social Studies, Physical Education

Year 10: English, Science, Mathematics, Social Studies, Physical Education, optional semester based subjects.

Subject teachers will be available between 9.00am and 6.00pm in the Gymnasium. Interviews are for 5 minutes duration only. If you need more time for an interview please arrange an alternative time to meet the teacher concerned.

Viewing Student Progress

  • The recent half year Academic Reports that were emailed to parents/caregivers at the end of Term 2 may provide some good focus for these discussions as will the upcoming Attitude to Learning reports that we expect to email to parents/caregivers on 26 August. If you do/have not received these please contact the College Office to ensure that your email details are correct.
  • Attitude to Learning reports are designed to assist parents and students to gauge progress and complement the student conferencing. If you have not had the opportunity to view these yet, this information can be viewed by visiting the parent portal.  We suggest you go to the student report > caregiver reports and download the PDF document to more easily show any trends. If you are unable to log onto the portal, please telephone Mrs Richards at the College Office on 688 6003 extension 824 and she will be able to assist you with this.
